The Board of Education has adopted Board Policy 9323(b) to ensure the public's right to be heard in any matters pertaining to the San Marino Unified School District. We respectfully request that if you would like to address the Board about a Closed Session matter, you complete a REQUEST TO SUBMIT PUBLIC COMMENT card and submit it to the Assistant to the Superintendent at the side table at this time. The President of the Board will invite speakers to the podium to address the Board at the appropriate time. Five minutes may be allotted to each speaker and a maximum of 20 minutes to each subject matter; however, in the event there are more than four speakers on the same subject matter, the Board President retains the discretion to adjust and limit the time allocated to each speaker to ensure that all wishing to speak will be heard within the 20-minute allotment.

Pursuant to Government Code Section 54957(b), the Board will meet with the Interim Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources to consider the Discipline, Dismissal, and/or Release of a Public Employee.

The Brown Act prohibits Board members from discussing or taking action on non-agenda items. If you would like to speak to the Board about a topic that IS on the agenda, please fill out the card and hand it to the Assistant to the Superintendent now or no later than when the agenda topic is called by the Board President. The Board will not hear Public Comment once discussion of the particular agenda topic by the Board has begun. Having formed a Facilities Advisory Committee to review, assess, and evaluate the District's deferred maintenance needs, safety and security improvements, and facility improvement upgrades, and financing options and alternatives, and having reviewed submitted applications, the Board will select persons with expertise and experience in areas related to construction, design, management, state and county regulations, legal matters, and financing, to name a few, ideally with representation from District administration, teachers, staff, students, parents, and the San Marino community. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the District's preliminary plan for the Low Performing Student Block Grant. The District is eligible to receive grant funding totaling $43,473 to support and assist students who are low performing. There are approximately 22 students identified that qualify for services associated with this funding. The proposed plan (attached) would provide for supplemental services for the identified students. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve an interfund transfer of $838,000 from the Cash Flow Fund 17.2 to the Capital Projects and Improvement Fund 40.0. The funds will be used for the Barth Athletics Complex until the receipt of State Facility Program funding. Interfund Transfer Memo 2-25-19
